CANADA WINTER GAMES
The Canada Winter Games began in Québec City in 1967 as part of Canada’s Centennial celebrations. Since then, the Canada Games have been held every two years, alternating between Winter and Summer Games.
The Games bring together athletes from every province and territory and are an important part of Canada’s athlete development pathway. Many Canada Games athletes have gone on to represent Canada at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In 2027, the Canada Winter Games will return to Québec City, 60 years after the first Games were held there.

Québec City, the capital of Québec, is one of Canada’s oldest and most historic cities. Located along the St. Lawrence River, the city is known for its French-Canadian culture, historic architecture, and famous Old Québec, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The surrounding region combines city life with impressive natural landscapes, including mountains, forests, rivers, and nearby communities. Winters bring plenty of snow and a strong tradition of outdoor recreation, making activities such as skiing, snowboarding, skating, and other winter sports an important part of the region.
With its welcoming atmosphere, strong sporting tradition, excellent facilities, and unique culture, Québec City and the surrounding area will provide an exciting setting for athletes, coaches, and visitors attending the 2027 Canada Winter Games.
